Overview:
Are you passionate about 3D GIS and good software?

At the Esri R&D Center Zurich, we are looking for a result-driven product engineer who will help us to grow and maintain the ArcGIS API for JavaScript. Our API empowers web developers around the globe to build compelling mapping applications.

Join us to push the state of the art of what is possible with just a browser.
Responsibilities:
  • Create compelling product samples, blogs and documentation to showcase new features
  • Advocate innovative cartography and powerful geospatial workflows throughout the development cycle from requirements to release
  • Work together in a team of designers, developers and fellow product engineers on implementing new API features
  • Write and maintain JavaScript test applications representing our API users and establish example 2D/3D GIS datasets
  • Reproduce, report, and manage bugs found through in-house testing or reported by customers
  • Connect and collaborate closely with our other Zurich teams (ArcGIS Scene Viewer, Urban, CityEngine, XR & Unreal Engine) and our colleagues in the California HQ to improve the API
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in cartography, geography, surveying, computer science or a related field
  • 1+ years of relevant experience with JavaScript (ideally TypeScript), CSS, and HTML
  • Solid Web GIS experience in ArcGIS or other geospatial software
  • Good intuition for the aesthetics and technical aspects of information visualization
  • Passion for quality, detail oriented and knowledge on how to break software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Recommended Qualifications:
  • Experience in quality assurance, test strategies, test automation and developing test scripts
  • Industry experience in building geospatial, 3D, or web applications
  • Experience with writing technical documentation
  • 3D modelling or graphics background (for example: knowledge of polygonal data structures, WebGL, shaders, and more)
  • Knowledge of the agile software development processes and methodologies
